Optical Biometry
Currently, an optical Biometry (determining the power of an intraocular lens with an IOL master device) is a standard method for calculating intraocular lens strength in clinical examinations. Optical Biometry is a highly non-invasive method for measuring anatomical features of the eye that is performed in this hospital by the 500,700 IOL Master.
The purpose of this photo
The purpose of this test is to measure the various anatomical features of the eye that are needed to calculate the intraocular lens power. This is a precise measurement to determine the correct lens strength that is followed by intraocular cataract surgery. It should be noted that the physician chooses the lens number based on the scoring determined by this device.
Actions before the photo
The patient does not need any special preparation, such as dripping, and etc. But it is necessary to avoid using soft contact lens one-week before the test.
This test requires complete patient cooperation because of that its necessary not be tired and sleepy.
Steps
First, patient information is entered into the device and the patient is asked to place his/her chin and forehead at the specified location blink and then do not move for a few seconds and look at the red dot in the center of device. Images and information are printed on the sheet and delivered to the patient. The data is analyzed and then the intraocular lens type is selected and the results are printed.
Complications
Complications have not been reported.
Place and hours of doing
Every day, except holidays, from 7 am to 6:30 pm
The duration of the test for one eye is approximately 5-10 minutes but depends on the patient's cooperation.
